Our Recommended Health Screenings
The tests and procedures listed below are recommended screening and monitoring tests. Every patient is evaluated on an individual basis; therefore certain tests may be needed more often or less often than noted here.
All
Colonoscopy starting at age 50, then every 5-10 years if normal
Pneumovax starting at age 50, then every 10 years until age 65
Flu shot every year from October to February
PSA and prostate exam (males only) at age 50, then yearly
Cholesterol starting at age 20, then every 5 years
Tetanus shot every 5 to 10 years
Diabetics
ABI- Leg Circulation Test at age 40, then every 2 years
Urine Analysis once a year
Blood analysis 3 to 4 times a year
Foot Sensory testing once a year
EKG once a year after age 40
Stress testing at age 40, the every 2 years
Dilated Eye Exam once a year by eye doctor
Hypertension
EKG once a year
Stress testing at age 40, then every 2 to 3 years
Echocardiogram every 2 to 3 years
Urine and Blood analysis 2 to 3 times a year
Women
Mammogram annually after age 40
PAP starting at age of sexual activity or age 21, then every 1-2 years
Bone density scan at age 50, then every 2 years
Children
Immunizations at 2, 4, 6, 12 and 15 months, age 4 to 6, and age 16 to 18
Gardasil (HPV vaccine) for females age 9 to 26
Cholesterol
Cholesterol starting at age 20, then every 5 years
If on cholesterol medication, then 2 to 3 times a year
Asthma
Pulmonary function testing (PFTs) 3 to 4 times a year
